🌮 Smash Burger Tacos
Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
-
6 small flour tortillas (street taco size works great)
-
1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
-
6 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
-
½ cup shredded lettuce
-
1 tomato, diced
-
¼ cup diced onion (or pickles, if preferred)
-
Burger sauce (ketchup + mayo + mustard + relish mix, or ranch for variation)
Instructions
-
Prep beef – Divide beef into 6 equal portions (about 2–3 oz each). Roll into balls.
-
Assemble raw tacos – Place each beef ball directly on top of a tortilla. Press lightly so it sticks.
-
Smash & cook – Heat a griddle or skillet over medium-high heat. Place tortilla-side up, beef touching the pan. Smash beef flat with a spatula (thin layer covering most of tortilla). Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
-
Flip – Once beef is browned and crisp at edges (about 2–3 min), flip so tortilla touches the pan. Lay a slice of cheese on the beef side, cover briefly so it melts while tortilla gets golden.
-
Assemble – Remove from pan, top with lettuce, tomato, onion/pickles, and drizzle of burger sauce.
-
Serve immediately — best hot and crispy!
✨ Tips & Variations
-
Add jalapeños and pepper jack for a spicy version.
-
Swap tortillas for mini pita bread if you want them thicker.
-
For extra crunch, drizzle with Thousand Island or ranch dressing and top with crushed potato chips.
