1 cup buttermilk (room temp)
-
4 large eggs (room temp)
-
2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Butter Glaze:
-
¾ cup sugar
-
⅓ cup unsalted butter
-
3 tbsp water
-
2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Prepare the Cake
-
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
-
Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan very well.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
-
Add butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed 2–3 minutes until smooth.
-
-
Bake
-
Pour batter into the prepared pan.
-
Bake 55–65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
-
-
Make the Glaze
-
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and water.
-
Cook over medium heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves (don’t boil hard).
-
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
-
-
Soak the Cake
-
While cake is still warm and in the pan, poke holes all over with a skewer or fork.
-
Slowly pour glaze over the cake so it seeps in.
-
Let cake cool completely in the pan before inverting onto a plate.
-
-
Serve
-
Dust with powdered sugar or serve plain — it’s buttery, tender, and full of flavor.
-
🌟 Tips & Variations:
-
Some bakers add a splash of bourbon to the glaze for a real Kentucky twist.
-
Tastes even better the next day after the glaze has soaked in fully.
-
Serve with fresh berries or whipped cream if you like.
