2 (6–8 oz) lobster tails, split in half (shell-on or off)
-
6–8 large sea scallops, patted dry
-
½ tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tbsp olive oil
For the Garlic Butter Sauce:
-
4 tbsp unsalted butter
-
4 garlic cloves, minced
-
2 tbsp lemon juice
-
1 tsp lemon zest
-
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
-
¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
For Serving:
-
Lemon wedges
-
Crusty bread (to soak up the sauce)
Instructions
1. Prep the Seafood
-
Lobster tails: Butterfly by cutting the top shell lengthwise and loosening the meat (keep attached at the tail).
-
Scallops: Remove side muscle (if present) and season with salt & pepper.
2. Sear the Scallops
-
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Sear scallops for 1.5–2 mins per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
3. Cook the Lobster
-
In the same skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter. Add lobster tails (meat-side down) and cook for 2 mins.
-
Flip, cover, and cook for 3–4 mins until opaque. Remove and set aside.
4. Make the Sauce
-
Reduce heat to medium. Add remaining butter, garlic, lemon juice, zest, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 30 secs until fragrant.
-
Stir in parsley and return seafood to the pan. Toss to coat.
5. Serve Immediately
-
Drizzle with pan sauce and garnish with lemon wedges. Serve with bread or over pasta.
Tips for Perfection
🔥 High heat is key for a golden sear on scallops (don’t overcrowd the pan!).
🦞 Lobster hack: Use kitchen shears to split shells easily.
